Life Skills should be Mandatory in School

1 min read

A student spends nearly 14 years in a school and when he/she graduates to enter life as an adult, though knowledgeable about many academic and extra curricular subjects, but experience shows that most students are shallow / not knowledgeable about some extremely crucial life skill issues.

Some of the topics I wish, the schools focus on, are:

  • How to lead
  • How to negotiate
  • How to start a business
  • How to make millions
  • How to sell
  • How money works
  • How taxes work
  • How to have an objective view on politics
  • How to vote
  • How to think for yourself (avoiding peer pressure)
  • How to process issues
  • Conflict resolution
  • How to marry/date
  • How to be a good parent
  • How to deal with failure (Heartbreak, Job Loss, Rejection)

Traditional education has become irrelevant. We must focus to learn topics/subjects that truly matter
